Stowe MUDROOM MAKEOVER
There’s usually nothing better than a ski house with a hot tub, but not when it’s inside the middle of your home! We converted this 1980s ski condo into a home that provided this growing family of four new, usable square footage suitable for their everyday needs. We converted rooms that were once non-functional into laundry, cubbies, closets, office storage, and a stylish den that doubles as a guest room when needed. By incorporating the homeowner’s stackable washer + dryer into the mudroom, it allowed us to convert the closet where it previously sat, into toy storage for their two young boys. We removed walls in the mudroom, added a glass door into the den to allow for natural light, and gave the entire home a fresh coat of white paint to bring it up to date. We were even able to repurpose existing materials, including light fixtures in the mudroom (which we sprayed black) and cedar decking from the hot tub for closet floors. With the completion of this remodel, this young family can come home after a day on the slopes, stomp off their boots, store their gear, and relax with a good movie by the fire.
